Description:
Sir Robin Knox-Johnston is an international yachting legend. He was the first person to ever sail solo non-stop around the world in 1968-69. Subsequently he has held the records for sailing round Ireland, the British Isles and the world. In 2006, at the age of 68, and stung by comments from younger sailors that he was too old, he raced solo around the world, coming 4th in the Velux5oceans race.
Recently he has made a series of films with John Simpson and Sir Ranulph Fiennes called “Top Dogs” screened during the spring of 2009. He has climbed with Sir Chris Bonington, parachuted and flown. He still dives for pleasure.
Chairman of a public Company, Clipper Ventures plc, which enables complete novices to train and sail around the world, he is a motivational and amusing after dinner speaker.
