Peter played for Leicester City, Stoke City, Notts Forest, Southampton and Derby and was player/manager at Plymouth, Wimbledon, West Ham and Leyton Orient where in December 1996 he achieved the World Record for having made 1005 league appearances. Peter made his debut of England in 1970 and went on to play twenty years for his Country finishing after the World Cup in Italy 1990 gaining a record number of 125 caps for his Country.
