Former TV Chef, presenter, raconteur, author & Priest
John was originally spotted by Southern Television in a department store shop window, demonstrating his cooking skills at the launch of the Sherborne Abbey Cookery Book in the 80’s. This began the media career of The Cooking Canon, an Anglican Clergyman with tales to tell. He is one of the first “entertaining” Television Chefs with regular appearances on BBC’S famous television magazine programme ‘Pebble Mill at One’. This continued his popular style with excellent recipes that thrilled and entertained a generation.
A natural speaker having first spoken in public at the age of 17! John is a Shepherd’s son from Suffolk, who has had a career as a Lighting Engineer in the Theatre including the West end and Sadler’s Wells Opera House, taught at a Drama School, ran a garage and became a Operating Theatre Technician in hospital. Eventually being ordained in Salisbury Cathedral and working for nearly ten years with his own programme on BBC Radio Suffolk.
There is a story to tell and he is now writing about it. He has published five books and works now on his auto biography, travelling all over the country speaking.
