Motivational speaker Bear Grylls achieved his childhood dream of summitting Mount Everest at 23. He was, at the time, among the youngest people to have achieved this feat. The achievement was even more incredible coming 18 months after breaking three vertebrae in a parachuting accident.
Bear is a former SAS serviceman, survival instructor, and honorary lieutenant-colonel. Outside his military career, he is an adventurer, writer, television presenter and entrepreneur.

He is the presenter of the National Geographic Channel sustainability series, Hostile Planet. The series focusses on the survival, adaptability, and growth as a species in these dangerous climate change times.
In 2020 Amazon Prime premiered the revival of Bear’s Eco-Challenge series, The World’s Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji. In 2021 Bear presented, Bear Grylls Wild Adventure, a two-part ITV series featuring Jonny Wilkinson and Nicola Adams.
Bear’s first book, Facing Up described his expedition and achievements climbing to the summit of Mount Everest. His second was Facing the Frozen Ocean. His third book Born Survivor: Bear Grylls was written to accompany the TV series of the same name. He also wrote an extreme guide to outdoor pursuits, titled Bear Grylls Outdoor Adventures.
In 2012, he published his autobiography, Mud, Sweat and Tears: The Autobiography. This was followed by A Survival Guide for Life in late 2012 and True Grit in 2013.
Bear Grylls has also written Mission Survival series of children’s adventure survival books titled: Mission Survival: Gold of the Gods, Mission Survival: Way of the Wolf, Mission Survival: Sands of the Scorpion, Mission Survival: Tracks of the Tiger and Mission Survival: Claws of the Crocodile. He has written two thriller novels based around his character Will Jaeger; Ghost Flight and Burning Angels. His publication, Soul Fuel for Young Explorers, won the Christian book of the year for young people at the 2021 CRT Awards.
