Duncan Goodhew MBE

Swimathon President and Olympic Gold Medalist, Duncan Goodhew, is an instantly recognisable and truly inspirational motivational speaker for both sporting and business audiences.

The twin misfortunes of losing his hair when he was ten years old and being dyslexic spurred motivational speaker, Duncan Goodhew, on to win Olympic Gold for the 100m breaststroke in Moscow.  In 2019 he was one of the first inductees into the prestigious Swim England Hall of Fame.  Duncan is the President of the hugely successful charity fundraiser, BT Swimathon, which has helped raise more than £10m for worthy causes.

Duncan has also been a key player in the success of the BAA Youth Games, which encourages young people to take part and achieve their goals. Together with other top athletes including Steve Cram, Sally Gunnell and Trevor Brooking, Duncan has supported and encouraged youth sport through the scheme.

In his book, Sink or Swim, Duncan draws on his life in competitive swimming, where months and years of training skills are judged on a single short performance.

Duncan adapts the lessons learnt in the pool to assist business teams to find inspiration and effective ways to overcome the obstacles to success. He is an excellent motivational speaker, his style is both inspirational and entertaining.

“Duncan was a real success. The client absolutely loved him, and all the delegates were totally enthralled. So much so that we overran his Q & A session by half an hour. All in all he was spot on. Please pass on my thanks to him”. Gillian Ratcliffe, Woodreed.
