Motivational speaker, Eddie Edwards, describes his journey to compete at the Winter Olympics as his Olympic victory. Indeed it was and against all odds. Eddie’s story has been made into an international hit film. He is an inspirational and entertaining speaker and accomplished event host.
Motivational speaker, Eddie “the Eagle” Edwards, represented Britain at the 1987 World Ski Jumping Championships. In 1988 he travelled to Calgary and represented Britain in the Winter Olympics. Mike Edwards became Britain’s 1st and only Olympic ski jumper. He was fondly re-christened “Eddie the Eagle.” As the guy who came 58th, he got more publicity than the Gold Medal winner. His heroic Olympic efforts thrust him into the international limelight.
A film of Eddie’s extraordinary life was made entitled, Eddie the Eagle. He was portrayed in the film by Taron Egerton. His coach was played by Hugh Jackman and it was directed by Dexter Fletcher. The film grossed a worldwide total of $46.1 million. In the UK, it grossed $12.8m making it the highest grossing British film of 2016.
He is also busy with public relations and advertising work. Eddie has also presented a popular Sunday radio show on BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
He was crowned Winter Wipeout Celebrity champion, winning £10,000 pounds for charity and was a finalist in Let’s Dance Sports Relief. Eddie also won the ITV Saturday prime-time celebrity diving competition, Splash!
