James is a retired Immigration Judge and former President of the Council of Immigration Judges for the UK. His book, “The Making of an Immigration Judge” was published in 2016. James has had a fascinating life and his experiences include being Legal Adviser in the House of Lords to four Lord Chancellors; the Chief Executive of the Royal Courts of Justice in The Strand in London; the Legal Adviser in Hong Kong on the Handover of Hong Kong to China. His experiences are regaled in hilarious fashion in his speeches where he is in great demand. He exposes the failings in our immigration system and the likely consequences of Brexit. He discusses the dilemmas surrounding the treatment of Migrants. He has spoken at numerous events including Literary Festivals, Livery Companies in the City of London and societies. He is no pompous retired member of the Judiciary, his speeches are entertaining in their own right. He does not just speak but gives a performance, where there is much to amuse but also much to contemplate and to consider later.
“He was both witty and charming, and his timing and delivery were a brilliant example of the art of public oratory … Overall, James is a most refreshing and brilliant public speaker and I would have no hesitation in recommending him unreservedly”. City Livery Dinner feedback, John Peacock 2017
