Kavita Oberoi is one of the UK’s most successful female entrepreneurs. She runs her own multi-million pound healthcare and IT consultancy which she started from scratch in 2001. The business now provides IT training to more than one in five GP practices across the country. Already well known in her native Derbyshire where her business is based, Kavita came to receive wider public attention in August 2008 when she appeared on Channel 4’s hit show The Secret Millionaire. She will also be appearing in the follow-up, Secret Millionaire Changed My Life at 9pm on Christmas Day.
Since her appearance on The Secret Millionaire, Kavita has become a Director of Sisters with Voices, an eight week programme for disadvantaged young women which provides mentoring, coaching and activities to increase self confidence and life skills. Kavita has sold the programme into three schools and to the Sure Start scheme in Derby. She now wants to do the same thing all over the UK. The Secret Millionaire has inspired Kavita to become more involved with charity work. She says, ‘I want to be able to share my success and inspire and help people. My father was well known for his philanthropy, and I want to follow in his footsteps.’
