Inspirational speaker, Monty Halls, is a former Royal Marines Officer, explorer, author, and broadcaster. He is renowned for his expertise in leadership, change management, and building resilient, high-performance team cultures. During his military career as a Royal Marines Commando, Monty worked for Nelson Mandela during a time of profound national transformation in South Africa. He later went on to lead expeditions in some of the most remote and unpredictable environments on Earth, earning the prestigious Bish Medal for services to exploration.
This spirit of exploration led to a successful career producing and presenting wildlife and adventure documentaries for the BBC, National Geographic, and Discovery Channel. He is best known for the hugely popular BBC series Great Escapes. The latter followed Monty living self-sufficiently along the west coasts of Scotland and Ireland with his dog, Reuben.
Monty is the author of thirteen books and a regular contributor to leading newspapers and magazines. His latest book is Commando – The Inside Story of Britain’s Royal Marines. In recent years, Monty has focused on sustainability and marine conservation, collaborating with international partners to develop an innovative marine sampling system. The system enables people with no scientific background to contribute meaningfully to environmental research. It is now in use across the UK.
