Background

Darren has experienced adversity throughout his life including a cancer diagnosis, sight loss, bullying, school exclusion and homelessness. He is now England’s most capped blind footballer with 162 caps and has achieved 10 World and European medals.  He is a dual Paralympian with football and Judo and a bestselling author of `Transforming Your Life’ plus a corporate governance practitioner.  Darren a bachelor of Mathematics and Master of Psychology and recipient of an honorary doctorate for outstanding public services.

He is member of the Professional Speaking Association (MPSA) and former president of the Birmingham region, he speaks at conferences and events using his no nonsense, all action style. Darren facilitates masterclasses for corporate away days using Football in the Dark to show individuals and teams how to deal with physical, mental and emotional obstacles blocking their path to success. A graduate of The Coaching Academy, he also coaches high and low achievers who want to learn and develop the psychological skills to become the best version of themselves.

Over the past decade, he has inspired thousands of young people through his work on various programmes with organisations such as the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, Sports for Schools and Sport England amongst others.

At corporate events, Darren inspires delegates to change how they see themselves, other people and the world around them so they can achieve their true potential. He lives by the motto ‘the eyes are useless when the mind is blind’.
