Popular corporate speaker, host and entertainer, Shaparak Khorsandi, has recently released her book, Scatterbrain, which tells her story of self-discovery and late diagnosis of ADHD. Scatterbrain is they story of how Shappi was diagnosed with ADHD in her 40s and how she has dealt with this. She talks about how it felt – like a light being turned on from the moment she found out that she had ADHD. This was after feeling like she lived in darkness living with quirks. The book gives a clear picture into her journey of understanding this condition. The hope is that it can help raise awareness for others who may have been diagnosed later in life or may want to be tested. Presenter Konnie Huq says, ‘A compelling read for all scatterbrains and neurotypicals too.’ Best-selling author, Adam Kay, adds, ‘An intensely personal, highly educational and very funny exploration of ADHD.’
Shappi wants to normalise the fact that an ‘ADHD brain’ could be treated the same way as people who are left-handed or like anchovies on a pizza. Also giving her audience a platform where they can feel comfortable whatever their age at diagnosis, to help start a journey of recovery and realise that no one is alone in anyway.
