Former Mirror film critic and best selling author Simon Rose is the reviewer for the BBC General News Service. The author of the Classic Film Guide and the Radio One Essential Film Guide, he is now working on Follow That Cab!, in which he attempts to recreate famous movie scenes.
After years of sitting in the dark thinking “A monkey could do better”, he began writing screenplays, winning the Orange Prize for Screenwriting and penning The Flying Scotsman – about inspirational cyclist Graeme Obree – which starred Jonny Lee Miller and Brian Cox.”
A prolific author, Simon broadcasts regularly on radio and TV and has written on film and general features for a wide variety of publications including The Telegraph, The Times, Empire, Radio Times, Punch and Saga Magazine.
An accomplished and witty speaker, he can talk on any aspect of film, such as the life of the film critic, an anecdote-laden history of the movies or recounting outrageous tales of the Hollywood moguls, the ill-educated entrepreneurs who created the American dream – and the casting couch.
Simon believes that famous movies carry vital lessons for life and business and can provide examples tailored to your event. Simon is a natural speaker to entertain and inspire corporate audiences at both conference events and dinners.
“I have had the pleasure of hearing Simon speak twice – the first at an industry event, which prompted me to book him for a function of our own. He is witty, knowledgeable and definitely entertaining” Brian Tora, The Tora Partnership (former Investment Communications Director, Gerrard Investment Management)
