Stress Awareness Month 2025: Lead with Love and Beat Stress Together

Stress Awareness Month 2025: Lead with Love and Beat Stress Together

April is just around the corner, and that means Stress Awareness Month is back! The Stress Management Society’s theme for 2025 is “#LeadWithLove,” a brilliant concept to help us tackle stress with kindness. Whether it is work, family, or just keeping up with everything, stress can play a large part in our lives. So, let’s chat about what this month means and how we can make things better—for ourselves and our workplaces.

What’s Stress Awareness Month All About?

This Stress Awareness Month initiative has been going since 1992. Every April, people across the UK talk about stress and how to handle it. This year’s theme, “Lead with Love,” is about being kind – to others and ourselves. The Stress Management Society says kindness can change how we feel and spread good vibes. Imagine if we all did one nice thing a day, like holding a door open or really listening when a friend needs to talk. It could make a huge difference!

Stress in the UK: The Big Picture

Stress is currently affecting many of us. A report from Mental Health UK says 91% of adults felt stressed out in the last year—that is almost everyone. At work, it is even tougher. About half of all sick days are reportedly because of stress or feeling down. People miss around 21 days of work when stress gets too much, which costs businesses a lot and makes life tricky for everyone.

Younger workers, such as those aged 18-24, are struggling the most. Over a third of them have taken time off because stress got too much. And here’s the worrying bit: only about half feel okay talking to their boss about it, down from three-quarters last year. Work issues like too many tasks or worries about losing a job are big triggers. Even being told to come back to the office after working from home can cause stress.

How Our Experts Can Help

Want to understand stress better? We have a number of expert mental health speakers, including Dr. Ritz Suk Birah and Dr. Jack Lewis. Both speakers are experts on how our brains deal with pressure. They can explain it in a way that is easy to get – like why we feel frazzled and how to calm down. Integrating Ritz, Jack, or our other mental health speakers for your event could be a game-changer. They could show your team how to spot stress early and manage it with simple tricks. Imagine our experts sharing stories about how kindness rewires our brains for the better – perfect for this “Lead with Love” theme!

Easy Ways to Join In

Here’s how you can get involved this April:

  • For You: Try the 30-Day Challenge! Do one thing each day to feel good—like going for a walk, having a quiet cuppa, or chatting with a friend about how you’re doing.
  • For Work: Businesses can host a fun workshop or share tips on handling stress. Why not ask your boss to bring in someone like sports and business psychologist, Pete Cohen to talk about it and help you plan for your future self?
  • Be Kind: Smile at someone, help out a colleague, or just give yourself a break when you’re feeling rough.

Why It Matters

Stress Awareness Month isn’t just a one-off; it’s a chance to change how we live and work. The government’s even stepping up with a new Mental Health Bill to make support better, plus plans for more mental health helpers in schools and communities. But we can start small. By leading with love, we can cut stress down to size and build happier days.
