Tom Surgey is a popular author, wine expert and TV presenter, well-known for his media and live events work. He is regarded as one of the country’s most engaging drinks personalities, thanks to his bright, playful charisma and warm sense of humour. Tom is a regular expert guest on ITV’s Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh.
Although Tom is a wine specialist, he has a wealth of experience across all drinks categories. This includes premium non-alcoholics, beer, cocktails, cider and spirits. He also has a deep understanding of the food and the hospitality industry. Tom holds a WSET Diploma in Wine & Spirits.

Writing Work
An experienced wine writer, Tom has written numerous articles for a variety of magazines and papers. His debut book, How to Drink Wine, was published in August 2024. A modern, accessible guide to wine written with Tom’s trademark irreverence and warm personality. It gives readers in-depth insight into the fundamentals of wine; how it’s made, how to choose in a shop, navigate a wine list, what to eat with it, how to avoid hangovers. It is essential reading for today’s wine enjoyer, whatever their experience level.
Charity Work
Alongside his work, Tom is the co-founder of the charitable foundation Prept, which inspires and teaches children food education and cookery skills for life, with chefs in schools, community centres and at the Prept Training Kitchen. He was also a founding steering committee member for The Drinks Trust’s ‘The Drinks Community’.
Tom was shortlisted for the prestigious IWSC Wine Communicator Award in 2024 and 2025 and in 2019, he was shortlisted for the IWSC Outstanding Achievement in Wine Award.
